About CPRC

As part of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow curriculum, a student is required to undertake a research oriented project in their programme of study for B.Tech, M.Tech and MCA courses. Upon completion of project, student should be able to identify and describe the problem and scope of project clearly, collect, analyze and present data into meaningful information using relevant tools, select, plan and execute a proper methodology in problem solving, work independently and ethically, present the results in written and oral format effectively. As a part of the curriculum every year students are assigned to prepare different types of project work under the guidance of faculty member for better understanding of the specific topic in depth, which also allows for developing the creativity, innovation and opportunities for expressing their views and ideas.

Promotion of new innovation, ideas and research helps the student for project development of college as a more inclusive, participatory and democratic space. It also helps in development of research aptitude of students. Further, it motivates students to develop an attitude of openness for accepting newer ideas. Central Project & Research Committee, (CPRC) is a pursuit integral to progress in the institute. Its creative potential is immense and has been instrumental in bringing about constructive change in project development in innumerable ways. GNIOT, as a premier institute of higher learning, is committed to cultivating a meaningful research environment and expanding its benefit to the larger society. The college has institutionalized a Central Project & Research Committee to specifically focus on various areas of research. The chairperson and CPRC coordinators constitute the CPRC committee. The Committee meets periodically to discuss and select the student project guidelines and policy for project execution, evaluation and publication.

Mission

  • To facilitate and contribute to research based project in all disciplines, there by implementing in terms of grants, research innovation, intellectual property and publications.
  • To engage faculty members and students in quality research projects and encourage them to publish papers in reputed journals, thereby generating confidence and interest in the outside universities and institutions to establish productive linkages with the college.

Message from Director

Research is a crucial activity for any college and without the active involvement of its and students and faculty. CPRC generate new knowledge and skills, besides update existing ones. It can bring a shift in the paradigm from teacher-fuelled learning to students-initiated research and development of research based project to create innovation.

Message from Head CPRC

CPRC is the necessary first step of innovation that plays an increasingly important role in specialization of scientific knowledge, and innovative process. Greater Noida Institute of Technology (Engineering Institute) is committed to basic long-term research in frontier areas. The main objective of the CPRC activities in the college is to foster the students in their projects by developing research attitude and to impart the research based teaching practices in the campus.

The Purpose is to emerge CPRC as research intensive center for providing interdisciplinary project development based on research and education in frontiers of Innovation and technology. CPRC encourages inquiries concerning the project development by using research methodologies and welcomes contract and potential collaborative work among the students from different streams.

The CPRC aims to support and promote research based project within and outside the institute. The CPRC are required to play a proactive role in developing a research environment in the institute, which will endeavour to foster research within the college and encourage students and faculty members to apply for research grants and publications.

Key Result Areas (KRA) of CPRC

CPRC of GNIOT is committed towards enhancing the research profile of the institution. For this purpose, the committee constantly endeavors to encourage, enable and promote research environment in college through development of project with innovative ideas and also arrange various programs, workshops and seminars for faculty members as well as students.

KRA of CPRC

  • project guidelines, polices, schedule with project/internship assessments details for B.Tech, M.Tech and MCA courses.
  • Providing input to the development of the project, including the evaluation strategy.
  • Maintaining the records of project titles/Industrial visits and associated supervisors/coordinators of undergraduate/postgraduate students.
  • Defining and helping to achieve the project outcomes;
  • Collection of data on faculty specializations and preparation of database for projects.
  • Monitoring on Identification, Allotment of project titles and project guidance.
  • Create the formulation of marks based on internal and external project lab assessment.
  • To acquaint the students about the booming technological innovations and the future prospects of their survival in the industry.
  • Conducting the events categorized into workshops, seminars, training, and certification course work.
  • Unfolding and paving way to the talents hidden among the students.
  • Promote and motivate students and faculty members to organize and attend conference/workshops/ Seminars/Training/FDP/STTP.
  • Helping faculty research committee in execution of research initiatives for the students.
  • To monitor the performance and improve the quality in dissertation/thesis and mentor for timely completion and submission of dissertation/thesis.

Roles & Responsibilities

CPRC of GNIOT is committed towards enhancing the research profile of the institution. For this purpose, the committee constantly endeavors to encourage, enable and promote research environment in college through development of project with innovative ideas and also arrange various programs, workshops and seminars for faculty members as well as students.

a.Role of CPRC

  • Attend meeting with HOD’s and Project coordinators and supervisors in order to implement the current trends in project development and review and also prepare the MoM for forwarding to CPRC monthly.
  • To prepare schedule or activity plan for all the departments.
  • To arrange brainstorming sessions, webinar, seminar and workshop through talks by eminent personalities from project development, industry, R& D organizations and institutions of repute for the better understanding of research methodology and practices currently followed.
  • To support faculty for delivering talks at different events and conducting workshops, training programs, seminars, conferences, symposia and faculty development programs.\
  • To motivate students for presenting papers or publishing paper in National and International conferences and journals and projects in competitions Interdepartmental / collaborative work to be encouraged.
  • To monitor progress of the research and development activity.

b.Role of the Project Review Committee (PRC)

  • Attend meeting with HOD’s and Project coordinators and supervisors in order to implement the current trends in project development.
  • To implement the strategic and operational plans to ensure quality, quantity, timeliness and results in relation to planned objectives and expected outcomes.
  • To organize the Research based programs to build an effective relationship among students, faculty and industry.
  • To verify the project topics for giving approval.
  • Monitor the student project, project initiation, selection, project reviews and project evaluation award of internal and external project marks.
  • To ensure for attending all the project presentation reviews for verifying the project evaluation process.

c.Role of Project Coordinator

  • Coordinate CPRC, PRC members and Project supervisors for smoothly student project execution in the department.
  • Update and maintain all files and records related to student project in the departments.
  • Submit the list of projects to the department concerned.
  • Submit the file time to time and implement it as per the given guidelines and policies by CPRC.
  • To ensure for complete the student project progress report or project diary before every project presentation review.
  • To ensure the format of SRS or synopsis and project thesis or report should be in proper format as per university guidelines.

d.Role of Project Supervisor

  • To create a conducive environment for promotion of Research and innovation based project in the department.
  • To encourage students for design and develop a project with smooth functioning and effective management of Research & innovation activities at the department and institute level.
  • To ensure for needed attendance of the student as per university norms for student to attend all the internal and external project lab exams.
  • To ensure for complete the student project progress report or project diary before every project presentation review.
  • To ensure the format of SRS or synopsis and project thesis or report should be in proper format as per university guidelines.

e.Role of Student Member

  • Identify the students to crack new ideas in their projects.
  • Identify the students having relationship with other department to do research proposal.
  • Follow the directions of faculty to execute the research based projects.
  • To help faculty members in organizing different events in R and D.
  • Discuss with your faculty mentor the details of how the proposed research project will be carried out and the features of a good project proposal.
  • Consult with your faculty mentor to determine if your project will require approval from a University review committee.
  • To follow up and implement the instructions given by Project Coordinator and Faculty members of the committee.
  • Submit the approved SRS or Synopsis, final report or thesis to your supervisor by the agreed deadline.
